Theatre 3
Influential Practitioners
Course Description
This is an advanced level acting class; it is modeled after college level courses. It requires the pre-requisite of two lower level theatre arts course offerings or teacher recommendation.
In this class you will begin to deepen your connection to characters and your performance skills by exploring the work of influential directors such as Konstantin Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner, Tadashi Suzuki, Lee Strasberg (Method Acting), Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and Anne Bogart to name a few. We will also work on defining what it means to be “in the moment” and what makes a believable and truthful performance through your rehearsal of Monologues, two person scenes, improvisations and group performances.
Unit 1 = The Ensemble (Suzuki/ Bogart)
Unit 2 = The Stanislavski System (Open Ended Scenes)
Unit 3 = Method Acting (Monologues) ** Midterm**
Unit 4 = Sanford Meisner (Partner Improv)
Unit 5 = Stella Adler/Uta Hagen (Contrasting Monologues) **Final**
